Explanation

PerfectIt checks for phrases to avoid as specified in the selected style sheet.

Example

If a style sheet suggests avoiding terms such as ‘handicapped’, the best alternative may well depend on context.

So rather than suggesting a replacement term, this check provides guidance for the user.

In this case, that might say ‘Use positive terms about disability instead of out-of-date terms’.

Customizing the Check

For instructions on how to set preferences for this check, see Working with PerfectIt Style Sheets: Always Find and Never Find.

Running the Check

PerfectIt only runs this check when there are phrases to avoid specified in the active style sheet.

If there are no phrases specified, the check is passed.
