I have combined a custom style sheet with CMOS 17. How can I update it to CMOS 18?

As best practice, we always recommend keeping your custom style separate, meaning it shouldn’t contain rules or preferences from PerfectIt’s built-in styles. Instead, it should be based on “Check Consistency” only. We call this an “uncombined style.”

If you have saved your custom style sheet separately (in an “uncombined” form), you can easily combine it with CMOS 18 to create a new style. 

If you only have a combined custom style sheet based on CMOS 17, you cannot directly combine this with CMOS 18 in PerfectIt 6.

However, there are two things you can do:

• If you have added a limited number of terms (less than 100), we recommend creating a new style sheet and re-adding these manually. 

• If you have a larger list of custom rules in your combined style, please contact our Support Team for next steps.
